Writing courses

Abelard Consulting has developed and presented courses in technical writing, technical report writing and scientific writing over the last 20 years. ATTAR (Advanced Technology Testing and Research) has acquired the training division of Abelard Consulting (effective from 1 January 2019) and is now presenting these courses, with the support of Abelard Consulting.

Courses can be tailored to your needs. They can also be delivered at your office.

Public technical writing courses are held in all major capital cities of Australia. They are run over two days. (See the list of upcoming courses at the right.) Other courses are run on demand and can be held over one, two or three days.

Participants receive an extensive reference book and a certificate.

Writer-placement services

Abelard Consulting's recruitment division specialises in the placing of technical writers (also known as technical authors or technical communicators). We have been in the recruitment business for nearly two decades and, in that time, have amassed a huge database of CVs from technical writers Australia-wide.

Our service is unique in a number of ways, the most important being that applicants are filtered and interviewed by long-term practising technical writers. Applicants unknown to us are also given a writing test.

Our current contractors are working in many fields, including mining, petroleum refining, robotic biosystems, network security systems, infrastructure security systems, commercial software products, banking systems and transport.

Documentation services

Abelard Consulting provides the full spectrum of documentation services: from editing a single document written by others to managing fully out-sourced project teams writing user documentation of many types, in many media, and in many languages. See our extensive client list.

We design, write, edit and index user guides, quick start guides, online help, service manuals and many other types of technical document.
